Dear SANFL Community Football Umpire,
As previously communicated, Officials HQ registrations & the Umpire AFL Education Module have now reset ahead of the 2025 season. If you are intending to umpire again in 2025, you will need to complete these requirements again. We encourage you to complete this ASAP whilst it’s quiet in the off season, so when the pre - season rolls around you can simply focus on your training and umpiring. This also helps ease the workload on your umpiring coordinator, as we can assist you with any admin troubles quickly at this time of year, where as the season gets closer it can become quite busy and may take some time to get back to you, so don’t delay, sign up for 2025 today! Please find the attached instructions on how to complete your re-registration. We currently have 410 umpires registered state wide for next year and would love to see this number grow by the end of December to have us well set up.
For 2025 there are three main components to your registration.
Officials HQ & AFL ID registration (Please do not start a new Officials HQ profile. If you wish to change your log-in email address, you must first complete the re-registration with your current login email address, then contact us to make the change to the email address you want it changed to).
Umpire AFL Education Module (New required content this season is on Racial vilification & Discrimination)
Working With Children Check (This does not need to be updated every year but you need to ensure your check is current within the last 5 years as per below)
Working with Children Checks
A reminder of the state law requirement that all umpires over the age of 14 must have a Working with Children Check.
If you already have a current WWCC (within 5 years of issue date), we encourage you to double check that your League Umpiring Coordinator has a copy and send them one if they don’t have it on file. This year Officials HQ again allows umpires to upload WWCC details directly into their Officials HQ profile, this not a requirement but you can do this as a secondary measure as well if you like (As per WWCC section in step 5 of the document). It is more important that your League has a copy than to upload it into Officials HQ.
If you don’t have a current WWCC, either because you never have had one or yours is now expired, you MUST have one prior to umpiring in 2025. Umpires can obtain them for FREE by following the instructions in the attached document (Step 9) and they last 5 years from issue date. The Checks can take 4-6 weeks to come back so if you know you need to do this, we strongly encourage you to get onto this ASAP so that it is all sorted prior to the start of the season. Once your check results come back, please again get a copy through to your League Umpiring Coordinator.
If you need assistance with the Working with Children Check or Officials HQ / Umpire AFL Education modules, please use the SANFL umpiring department via matthew.northcott@sanfl.com.au or your SANFL Regional Umpire Coordinators who can assist umpires in applying for checks and completing admin requirements where needed.
Thanks again for your support and involvement in the game, We look forward to seeing you back on our registration list for 2025. If you do not intend to umpire in 2025, please let me know and I will take you off the communication list.
Please let me know if you have any questions about any of the above requirements.
Have a great Christmas & New Year and we will see you in 2025.
Kind Regards,
Matthew Northcott
