Expert Football Trainers and First Aid Staff: Top-Notch Care for Our Players

At Blyth Snowtown Football Club, we’re committed to providing expert care for our players both on and off the field whilst also assisting our netball club and players. Michelle Dohnt, our Head Trainer with Level 2 Accreditation, 30+ years of experience, and a nursing background, leads our dedicated team.

Michelle is supported by:

Ian Hillard has returned to assist with the senior teams after a break.

Ros Zweck although retired you’ll still see you at games helping with the seniors when she can.

Barb Hayes (Level 1 Sports Trainer & nurse) works with the juniors.

Elly Swift also assists with the juniors and is working toward her Level 1 Sports Trainer accreditation.

Football:

  • Injury Support - Michelle will follow up with players on injury management and goes as far as helping to book in medical appointments or recommends a path of action.

  • Pre-Game Strapping: Footballers should liaise with Michelle, Barb or Ian for assistance prior to their game.

  • Concussion Management: Coaches and players must adhere to the SANFL policy and should liaise with Michelle when they are ready to return.

Netball:

  • Injury Management & Support: Netballers can contact BSFC Head Trainer Michelle for help or advice.

  • Pre-Game Strapping: Netballers can arrange to be strapped by the BSFC Trainers; they should avoid the football pre-game rush by contacting the trainers in advance and bring their own strapping tape. Alternatively, tape can be purchased at cost price from BSFC via Michelle.

  • Each netball team has a Primary Care Giver to support any injuries that occur and, along with the coach or team manager, can access the teams first aid kit for quick injury management.

  • The Netball Club also maintains a comprehensive whole club First Aid kit, restocked by BSNC.

  • Concussion Management - Netballers are required to refer to the Netball SA Concussion Management Policy and must provide the BSNC Secretary with a clearance letter from the Doctor prior to being approved for selection.

Can you help?

You don’t need medical training to become a trainer—BSFC supports and funds Trainer Accreditation through the SA Sports Medicine Association. As our player numbers grow and for long term succession, we’re seeking 1-2 extra trainers to assist our current team - no experience required.

If you'd like to join our club as a trainer or assist with strapping or rubdowns please contact president@bscats.com

Every bit of help counts! Together, we continue to provide the best care for our athletes.
