Junior Development

The Blyth Snowtown Football and Netball Club are extremely passionate about the recruitment, retention and development of our junior players.

We are fortunate to have many amazing coaches, volunteers and members who encourage new families to join us and it’s a credit on how new families are warmly welcomed. In recent years our numbers have continued to grow and today we are now filling competitive teams across all grades; although new families are always welcome.

One of the areas we pride ourselves in is ensuring our junior players feel valued and that playing for the Blyth Snowtown Football & Netball Club is affordable for families.

  • Each season all new U9 and U12 footballers receive a free football and all new players to junior football receive a free Cats hat; in recent years we have also provided all junior footballers with a free Cats training top and in 2023 our U14 & U17’s received a free Cats polo shirt (valued at $70) and U9 & U12 players received a free cats t-shirt (valued at $30). This ensures all juniors can wear Cats merchandise with pride and feel part of the Cats family.

  • With registrations costs increasing for families across sports and junior football clubs with most being around $100 fees, we are proud to ensure junior football is affordable at the Cats by keeping our subs low (view registration fees here)

  • The Blyth Snowtown Netball Club continue to gain no profit from registration fees to keep them as low as possible and our club also subsidises uniforms by 50% and encourages families to pass on second-hand uniforms.

The Blyth Snowtown Football & Netball club are registered with the Sport Voucher Program, which provides families the ability to claim $100 off their registration fees for children aged reception to year 9, which means your subs can be free if you claim your child’s voucher. We do however suggest if your child does a more expensive sport, that you save their voucher for that, as the remaining balance is non-transferrable.

Each season we facilitate a junior movie night at our local Blyth Cinema and subsidise the cost. This has been a great initiative running for over a decade where our juniors of both sports and all ages socialise outside of their games.

As a testament to being a family club, for the past 10 seasons, the senior members of the netball and football club have been extremely lucky to have access to a creche. Cats Creche is offered to Cats kids who have one or both parents volunteering or training on Thursday night trainings. The Cats Creche is FREE and is a very valuable service offered by dedicated and passionate volunteers.

Our junior players don’t just play, many do their rostered duties and give back to the club with roles such as score board attendant, umpiring and water runners. We provide an environment where our juniors are supported and learn to become valuable members of our community and learn many life skills.

Keep an eye out for our Come & Try each season in March; which is a great family night. Players have a fun training session with accredited coaches and finish off with a free sausage sizzle. It’s always a great way to kick off the season.

Junior football and netball training is Thursday night’s 5-6pm, which ensures families are at the same place at the same time and FREE meals for all junior footballers and netballers are available at the conclusion of training.

Games are held on Saturdays April-September and awards are presented after their games.
